October 3, 1925 – October 9, 2025
100 years old
Berniece “Beanie” Macel Olson, age 100, of Plymouth, Minnesota, passed away on October 9, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on October 3, 1925, in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, to Emil and Agnes Haldorson.
Beanie grew up in Detroit Lakes with her four siblings: Phil, Jim, Delores, and Laverne. In her younger years, she enjoyed chasing fireflies and riding her bike, always embracing life’s simple joys with a childlike spirit. She gave her life to Christ as a child, and as a teenager she was always found singing or playing hymns on the piano. Her first job was at her father’s local supermarket, where she developed a strong work ethic.
At the age of 29, she married the love of her life, Arnold Olson, on November 9, 1954, in Park Rapids, Minnesota. They met while working at Sears—Beanie in the order office and Arnold as a customer who caught her eye. After a short courtship, they married and went on to share 64 wonderful years of love and companionship. Together they raised three children: Greg, Randy, and Sandi.
Beanie will be remembered for her tenacity, humor, hospitality, and selflessness. She was an incredible host who loved having gatherings and welcoming friends and family into her home. Her dedication and devotion to the Lord was evident in all who met her.
She is survived by her daughter, Sandi; grandchildren, Ben, Konner (and wife Kayla), and Kayleen; and her great-grandchildren, Clara, Ava, and Theo; along with many beloved nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
A celebration of life and fellowship will be held on Thursday, November 6, 2025, from 6:30–8:30 p.m. at Park Harbor Church, 1615 Texas Ave S, St. Louis Park, MN 55426.
In lieu of flowers, donations toward funeral expenses are deeply appreciated.
Beanie will be profoundly missed by everyone who knew her. Her legacy of love will live on through many generations.
