Betty was born to George and Mabel Bottko on their wedding anniversary October 26th, 1933. She grew up in a loving home in South Minneapolis and graduated from Roosevelt High School Class of 1951. She began working at Squibb to fill in for her sister-in-law Jeanne when she went on maternity leave. That's where she caught the eye of a young man named Don Anderson, they soon began dating, fell in love and marriage soon followed. They celebrated 61 years of marriage together, had 5 children and raised them in their North Minneapolis home that they built and loved. They enjoyed spending time at their cabin near Cambridge, MN and traveled a great deal with family and friends. They had many fun years with their card club group.
She was a stay-at-home Mom who also took in foster children and later had a childcare business in their home. She provided loving care for many families over 40 years. She was a blessing to many children and families.
If you knew Betty, you knew she loved to shop for herself and her family. Christmas was always full of good food, gifts galore and some of the best decorations. Her home was always warm and welcoming, no matter the season. She loved her backyard in the summer where she had many beautiful flowers and garden decorations. Betty also enjoyed time with her friends after Don passed away. She spent many occasions with her Lift Group friends and her new friends at Copperfield, where she lived for 2 years. Oh, and we can't forget, she LOVED PEPSI! (she's wearing her Pepsi socks in heaven)
She is preceded in death by husband Don, infant son, parents George and Mabel Bottko, brother Don and sister-in-law Jeanne, in-laws Clarence and Eva Anderson.
She is survived by her children Mark (Sarah), Scott (Deb), Shirley, Linda (Craig), Tim grandchildren April, Steven, Natalie, Lindsey, Nick, Dillon, Cole, Sam, Alex, special foster grandchild Riley, 17 great grandchildren, brother John (Nancy) and many other family and friends.
Betty was cherished by her family and many others. She truly was a caretaker for all her life. That was her calling, and she will be greatly missed.
Memorials will be given to several of Betty's favorite charities.
