

David Bross of Brooklyn Park, MN, passed away peacefully on September 12, 2025, at the age of 79. Born on June 6, 1946, in Minneapolis, MN, David was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, teacher, coach, and friend.
At the age of seven, he moved to Lexington, MN, later returning to northeast Minneapolis during junior high. Some of David’s happiest childhood memories were made during summers working with his cousins at his grandfather’s farm in Willow River, MN.
A 1964 graduate of Vocational High School in Minneapolis, David attended Wayne State College in Wayne, Nebraska, on a football scholarship and also played on the baseball team. He had a celebrated career as a four-year starter and All-American Honorable Mention football player and was inducted into the college’s Hall of Fame in 2012. He graduated in 1968 with a degree in social studies and physical education.
David served his country as a member of the United States Army from 1969 to 1971, stationed in Fort Benning, Georgia, and Hanau, Germany.
A lifelong learner and passionate educator, David inspired countless students as a social studies teacher and encouraged young athletes as a football and baseball coach. He taught and coached at Vocational High School and Minneapolis South High School and spent the majority of his career at Anoka High School.
David’s life was marked by a deep love for his family, treasured family time, fishing trips, and cheering on his grandchildren at their events. He was preceded in death by his brother, Larry, and sister, Delores. David is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Geri; their children, Brian (Lynn), Kevin (Emily), Mark (Janna); their cherished grandchildren, Brenna, Hailey, Carson, Nora, Marian, Griffin, Greta, and Mallory; as well as his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Tom and Mary Jo.
He will be remembered for his kindness, wisdom, and the unwavering love he showed to all who knew him. David’s legacy of learning, laughter, and generosity will continue to inspire his family, friends, and students for generations.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, September 23, at 4:00 p.m. at St. Gerard's Catholic Church, 9600 Regent Avenue North, Brooklyn Park, MN 55443, with visitation one hour prior.
A celebration of life will follow from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. at Edinburgh Golf Course, 8700 Edinbrook Crossing, Brooklyn Park, MN 55443. Friends and family are encouraged to bring stories to share as they celebrate the life of David Bross.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the American Heart Association (Heart.org).
