Denny was a great friend to Barb and I.
There are so many great memories. The eight day road trip that five of us guys(Denny, Marv Petersen, Tom Hoover, Barry(can't remember his last name) and myself) took in the spring of 1962.
We drove from Robbinsdale to LA in about 36 hours. With stops in Tijuana and Tucson, AZ, we covered a lot of ground in eight days. The marathon 500 games we played. Denny and I persuaded our competitors, Barb and Mick, to do away with the rule that if a team went 500 in the hole they lost. I remember we started a game at our house in Mason City, IA and finished it about 8 months later at Denny and Mick's house in Marshalltown, IA. Denny and I won!!
Denny, Barb, and I flew out to LA for Marv and Margie's wedding. While out there, Denny decided he needed a big picture for over his livingroom couch. He decided on a framed picture of a nude woman painted on black velvet. Thank God it came in a plain brown wrapper and the airlines didn't have the "carry on" restrictions they do now. Whenever I traveled out to LA to visit my brother Steve and/or Marv, we always hooked up with Denny and had a great time.

After Denny moved back here, we had many phone conversations and got together for lunch three or four times. One time, when Marv and Margie were in town, the five of us met at a restaurant in Blaine and had a great visit.

In my conversations with Denny, I was struck by two things. First, he was very concerned about his family's wellbeing. Even more than his own. Second, he wished he could have done more for them. In my book, he did his best.

I would like to end on a personal note.
About two years ago I had a dream. I was walking through a room. To my left were sample caskets. To my right were desks and chairs with people conversing. I noticed that one of the sample caskets had a card on it. The card read, "This is not the end. I am only resting. We will meet again." I like to think of this as a message from my brother Steve who passed away in 2001. Those words give me hope for the future. I really do want to meet up with my family and friends again.

You have been my tower of strength all my life.  It was hard on us losing our sister Beverly in February and Brother-in-Law Joseph in January of this year.  Now you will be with them and Mom and Dad.  I will love and miss you always.  I have been blessed to have both Beverly and you in my life.

I was a classmate of Denny's in the 50's and have never forgotten what a great guy he was. We missed him @ the 50th reunion last year so it's been many years since we've seen each other, but I know he will be missed by many. God Bless each and every one of you at this time of sadness. I feel blessed to have called him my friend.

Denny,Old friend I am so glad we hooked up again all those years. When we got together with Tim for lunch and talked about the good times we had growing up, the cars, teasing your Mom,the proms all the memories were wonderful to talk about.I enjoyed the many phone conversations we had and wish now I had called more often. You will be missed by all of us but the relationship we shared was a big part of my life and and the memories will be forever cherished.

Our condolences to Dennis' family and friends.  We will miss his presence at our reunion get-togethers.

Uncle Dennis is one of the great ones. He was always full of hugs and kisses. We had a great time visiting him in CA, but I was so happy when he finally decided to move back to MN. Eveyone had a ton of fun at his welcome home party. Eventhough he was not feeling well these last few years he was always upbeat and never wanted anyone to feel sorry for him. He is loved by many and will be greatly missed, but we will all see him again someday - with hugs and kisses. I Love You Uncle Dennis - Vikki

DENNY YOU WILL BE MISSED . WENT THROUGH HIGH SCHOOL AND HAVE SO MANY FUN TIMES WITH MY BROTHER MARV AND OTHER FRIENDS. We will all miss him but are grateful that his ordeal has ended.  He was always upbeat and thoughtful.  He and Marv were good friends since high school.  In Marv's words, "He was a good man."

What a awesome uncle!!!!  He was like a big cuddly santa always happy and someone you wanted to crawl up on his lap and give a big huge to.   As a little kid I always remember how much fun it was having him live next door and work at my dads carlot I was so fortunate to get to see my uncle everyday and if I was lucky he let me climb into his cool white corvette.   After my mom died I loved talking with him, he reminded me so much of her with his mannerisms and sound advise or just his outlook on life.  I will soooo miss him.  Mom, Dad I hope you and Uncle Dennis are now all smoking drinking and cruzing around in your vettes having a party, we look forward to seeing you soon.  Thank you for all the wonderful memories, my heart is sadden your gone and I will miss you uncle Dennis, thanks for all the conversations we had after my mom died,they meant so much to me.
