Elaine LeClaire

Elaine LeClaire, 89, passed away January 12, 2017 at Ecumen Centennial House, Apple Valley, MN. She was born October 23, 1927 in St Cloud, MN, the adopted daughter of Joseph Frank and Lena Marie Steman. She was raised in Eden Valley. Following graduation from beauty school, she worked in beauty shops in Forest Lake and St Cloud.

On October 27, 1951 she married Hilary Joseph LeClaire, moved to Bemidji and owned and operated Midway Motel with her husband and sister-in-law Gertrude (LeClaire) Larson. Following their retirement they moved to St Cloud. She was a member of St John Cantius’.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband Hilary LeClaire, infant son Kevin, brother Jack Kaeter, and half brothers Kermit and Don Olson.

She is survived by sister Joan Arnold, half brother David Smith, half sister Marion Henry, children Joseph, Keith (Brianna), and Jean (Rick) Shaffer, Grandchildren Matthew (Reppert), Emma and Amber LeClaire, Heather (John) Cornelius and Justin Shaffer, Great Grandchildren Miya, Caleb and Colton Cornelius.

Elaine’s love for her family was unsurpassed and while her personality and presence can never be replaced the love and memories she left will live eternally.
