November 26, 1977 – September 28, 2026
Jonathan Daniel Lundberg, 48, of Plymouth, Minnesota, passed away September 28, 2026, after a courageous journey with brain cancer.
Born in Erie, Pennsylvania, to Dan and Joanne Lundberg, Jon grew up in Crystal, Minnesota, graduated from Armstrong High School, and earned a degree in Biblical and Theological Studies and Youth Ministries from Bethel University.
Jon lived with a simple, deeply rooted purpose: love God and love your neighbor. Ministry was not simply his work; it was how he lived. His life included service at Camp Nathanael, New Hope Church, the John & Vera Mae Perkins Foundation, Urban Homeworks, Sanctuary Covenant Church, and the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community, along with years working in construction and timber framing.
Jon met Aimee through ministry at New Hope Church, and they married August 4, 2006. Together they spent 14 years living and serving intentionally in North Minneapolis, building a life centered on faith, family, service, justice, and community.
Jon was a gifted leader, teacher, and discipler who loved Scripture, theology, sports, woodworking, building, a good debate, and a great story. Above all, he loved his family. To Aimee, he was a husband, teammate, and best friend. To Gabe, Hannah, and Jackson, he was an extraordinary dad.
Jon had a remarkable ability to make people feel seen and valued. When someone needed him, he showed up. He built homes and furniture with his hands, but more importantly, he built relationships, people, bridges, and community.
After his brain cancer diagnosis in 2024, Jon said, “I don't just trust God to heal me. I trust God, period.” That faith carried him through treatment and became his testimony. His family often returned to the words, “God is in the story.”
Jon is deeply loved and will be forever missed by his wife, Aimee; children, Gabe, Hannah, and Jackson; parents, Dan and Joanne Lundberg; siblings, Jana (Jon) Mucha and James (Kelly) Lundberg; Aimee’s parents, Larry and Karen Johnson; siblings, Andrea (Johnny) Johnson and Todd (Kasie) Johnson; 19 beloved nieces and nephews; and an extraordinary community of family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mildred and Warner Lundberg and Milo and Ruby Johnson; and uncles, Michael Johnson, Mark Cragle, and Rick Veit.
