Marion was my "bestest friend" for almost 25 years. She was my little shadow. Wherever I went, she was always by my side. In the earlier years, we would go to the cabin on the weekends. The minute we got there, she was pulling out half of the refrigerator to make some kind of dinner. In the morning, another big meal. She was such a good cook. After 2 hours of cleaning up and doing dishes our day would begin. The men would go golfing and Marion and I would go to the casinos or shopping.
Marion was a true friend. You could tell her a secret and she kept it. She never spoke a bad word about anyone. She always had a big beautiful smile on her face. Very rare did I see her cry. She was so strong. I wish I could have half the strength she had. She would tell me about her life stories and I was just amazed she had been through so much.
After Howard Sr. died, Marion came to live with us. When I was still working downtown, she would stand at the kitchen window and watch for me to get off the bus.  She would have supper all ready when I walked in the door. At night we watched our special shows otherwise it was on Hallmark Channel.
For fun, we use to plan trips to the casinos or go play bingo with Patty. Marion was a very lucky person. She always came out ahead. When we tried to sneak off to Mystic Lake, something always happened to our vehicles. Once we took Mike's truck on a really hot day. Before we got to St. Louis Park, the truck was smoking so bad,  we had to pull into a gas station to call for help. We called for a tow truck and expected to ride with him home. He came with a very big friend and there was no room for us. We didn't want to call a taxi, so the guy told us to crawl in the back of the truck and lay down so no one could see us because it was against the law. Well, she was laying on the spare tire and I was on the chains and jack. Once the truck was hoisted up, you could see us trying to look invisible. We have laughed for years after this happened. Another time, the battery was dying on our way back and we just rolled in the driveway and the car died.
Life with Marion was fun, whatever we did. She loved getting together with my family for the holidays or any other day for that matter. She loved going to visit with my folks. My family was very close to her and loved her very much.
Towards the end, she would call me Aunt Mary. I found out that she was the aunt she loved, who took care of her after her father died. We had a routine every day. My day would start by hearing "Aunt Mary, Aunt Mary can I get up?" I would get her up and dressed and watch her favorite morning show, Live with Kelly & Michael. She thought Michael was so funny. She would drink her tea with some kind of pastry to eat. We would watch The Young and the Restless (25 years of watching together) She would get bored easy, so every time I got up during commercials, I would dance and shake my butt. That always got a big laugh from her. She had that beautiful smile and the twinkle in her eyes... If I could have only bottled that!  We played charades a lot. She was trying to say words she couldn't think of. After 10 minutes of trying to guess, she would just say "forget it". I tried to make her life as comfortable as I would want for me. 
Every night for the last 6 months, Marion would ask us to bring her home. 
Well Marion, my dear friend, my special angel, you are HOME....I LOVE YOU!!!!

Marion was a true friend who always lite up a room and brought a smile to everyone's face. She never minced words and always spoke her mind. I have many memories of Marion at the holidays,  pies, cakes and deviled eggs were her specialities.  She will be truly missed and i have many warm memories. She has traveled a long hardnroad and is now at home again with her true love and sons.
