Mike..

For some reason I found myself thinking about you today while at work.

  I guess this is the time of year that I reflect back on the people in my life that made me happy.  When I read the comments of the people that loved you so much, it made me proud to say that I knew you for as long as I did.  

I went to the golf tourney this Summer and you were there with every one of us. Its was nice to see your family and all of the kids that we all grew up with.  It just shows how many lives that you touched and how much you were loved.

its been several months since Mike left us and still think about him alot. I've known Mike since we were kids and everytime i pass ST.MM i think of all the good times we had when we hung out. My heart goes out to you and your family.  I just heard of Mike's accident this past weekend.  I was so saddened.  I meet Mike in St Cloud and I used to date his best friend Chris.  I ran into Chris and his friends this weekend and he told me.  Mike was so smart, kind and fun to be around.  I was glad to have known him.  What a big loss for everyone.  Remember the good times. As difficult as it is be strong.

I didn't think it possible, but I miss you more every day.  It helps to think you're watching over us and I'm watching for little signs, paying attention to the thoughts and senses I have.  Josh and I are getting married in a little over 6 weeks.  We're so honored your 4 ladies are standing up for us but we're missing you.  In some ways it's hard to think about starting our lives together without you there in a tux but I know you're up in heaven shaking your head right now because you WILL be there and have been waiting for this day too and want it to be everything we dreamed. I miss you and pray for peace for you and for those who love you and miss you like crazy. I'm sorry to say the Saints won several ESPY's tonight.  Don't worry, we'll get revenge week 1.

The service for Michael today was beautiful.  Hopefully for the gift we have been given of knowing Mike, as the reverend said, we will all love God and our neighbor a little better, like our friend Mike did.

We went on different paths in school, so didn't know Mike well, but we always remembered him with fondness. He was a good kid. And it sounds like he grew to be a great man. I started at Cargill from out of state 5 1/2 years ago.  Mike was in my group and got he me started on some tasks the team was responsible for and before long we had quickly become friends.  Within a year, Mike moved onto to bigger and better things, but we always enjoyed the times we ran into each other.  

It can be difficult when you're a stranger in a new city working at a new company.  Mike made my transition into Cargill so easy. He was such a nice, fun, soft-spoken man…and I will miss him.

I grew up playing Robbinsdale baseball with Craig and Mark.  Mike was always there to lend a 'big brother' hand and some advice on how to field a grounder...back then, being a little leaguer, those little things meant a lot.  Mike was such a great guy and will definitely be missed.

After reading the entires, a lot of them strike a common accord and I agree. Mike was always very plesant and no matter the venue or situation a pleasant hello and conversation occured. I don't know if you remember me but I was one of Claudia's preschool teachers a couple years ago.  It was always great to have Michael come in and chat a little bit when he was dropping Claudia off or picking her up.  It was great to see him when he would bring Claudia back to visit her classmates.  He was always friendly and had a smile on his face.  My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this difficult time.

I first met Mike in 1977, when we were both just kids. He was from "the Indiana block" down the street.I was one of the "Halifax kids" in the neighborhood. Our families got to know
each other through the years through baseball and other social events. Mike was the first kid I ever got into a fight with in our backyard...so long ago,so trivial are kids.
 Mike always put the extra effort forward to ask how everyone was in my family later in life; when we would meet. He especially showed his condolences at the recent passing of my father about 3 months ago at the Eagles Nest. A very heartfelt expression I might add. We only seen each other in passing as the years went by, but I always considered him a real friend from the old neighborhood. He will be truly missed and remembered!

I can't remember a time when I saw Mike without a smile on his face!  
My thoughts and prayers to Mike's family.  I hope that in time the girls will find a bit of comfort in knowing they have a very special guardian angel--their dad will always be by their side.

I grew up playing baseball against Mike's teams--from T-Ball to Babe Ruth.  I did not know Mike well, but he seemed to be a good teammate and opponent...I recall wanting to be on his team.  Perhaps it was because he was a good fielder at shortstop, or a good hitter when his team needed a hit. Or what I recall was most was that he seemed to radiate an quiet energy that exemplified fairness, happiness and contentness.  Yes, as a young lad, Mike inspired a fellow little leaguer, or more I imagine.  Sometimes its hard to appreciate the influence people have on each other. Mike was the type of person who, as a youngster would say "hello Miah", remembering your name was the authentic person he was. Eventually I got to be on Mikes' team-I think it was Mickey Mantle-summer of '86 perhaps.  We were pretty much young adults at this time and Mike hadn't changed much-just his evolving into a mature young man...still had time for the little private school boy who didn't know many people that well---Was probably a better listener than most kids, and oh yeah, a decent ball player---opponent and teammate.  Years later, Mike still has had time for others-one's he hardly knew-but probably knew needed a kind ear.  Last November I was graced with the gift of seeing Mike playing soccer outside in his yard with his sweet daughters.  I recall when a ball rolled in the street Mike saying in his casual mild-mannered style:  "Be careful Alex".  Mike had a grace about him that I believe influenced and perhaps even more now influences others in ways that perhaps his creator had in mind.  I am grateful to have known you Mike. I will continue to pray for you and your kind family.

Dear Rymer Family,

I knew Mike in a way that I am quite sure many people did.  We met in Robbinsdale Little League Baseball.  I believe we were opponents every single year through Babe Ruth Baseball...Probably from about 1979 through 1986.  For some reason,nearly every spring I remember thinking I want to be on that boy's team.  Every April through about the 4th of July we would play ball with all the great kids from Robbinsdale-The Westerns, the Murphs, Gasperics, Hoppe's, etc,etc,in fact, that was about the only time I would see Mike because we attended different schools and lived clear across our quaint "town".  Despite not being on his team all those years, it felt to me that Mike was on my/our team.  He seemed to have this calmness and happiness about him that enveloped around Lakeview Terrace Park, Sandborn, Lee Park, and I'm sure many others.  I can't really explain it, it just seemed as though Mike was a guy who I wanted to be around.  In 1986 we played Mickey Mantle together and I got my wish.  He was a great teammate, supporting all of us.  I recall this because other kids might not associate with the kids from the private schools-or at least it felt that way with many.  Not with Mike.  Time went on and we would see each other at a summer frolics softball day, or at a local restaurant and Mike would always have time for a quick laugh, or story.  I am blessed to have known Mike and to have met his spirited family last year while biking down Adair,we talked for about an hour-all the girls were out in the yard playing soccer with each other.  I will continue to pray for you Heather and your daughters, and Rymer family.  Thank you Mike for helping to teach me a little bit on how to be so authentic and staying in the moment.  I am blessed to have known you teammate- even if we played "together" for just a year.
