Myron Clair McQuirter, Sr was born on September 19, 1958 in Orangeburg, South Carolina. He was the fourth child born to the late James B. McQuirter and his wife Lonnie Mae McQuirter. Myron passed away peacefully in his own home and was called home to be with the Lord on March 30, 2022. Myron attended Chicago Public Schools on the Southside of Chicago, including Park Manor Elementary and Hirsch High School. Myron is survived by his daughter, Maya Clarice McQuirter and son, Myron Clair McQuirter, Jr., as well as his lifelong companion and soul mate, Jackie Garvey. Myron is also survived by brothers James McQuirter (Trenna) of Eden Prairie, MN, Carlton McQuirter (Lisa) of Chapel Hill, TN, Lonnie McQuirter, Sr. (Michelle) of Minneapolis, MN and sisters, June Peggs (Michael) of Bay City, TX, and Edie Carthen McQuirter of Chicago, IL., Also, Aunts Freda Richardson, Genevieve Gaynor and Uncle Lonnie Gooden, Jr., as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents and grandparents. He served in the United States Navy from 1981-1985. Myron had various jobs including working for the Soo Line railroad, Emergency Medical Technician, as well as a stay-at-home dad. Myron had a colorful personality and was often the life of the party. He never met a stranger because he was always excited about learning people’s stories and backgrounds. He cherished time with his family, especially with his children. Myron loved to host barbecues at his home and was a firm believer of soul food for the soul. His other hobbies included traveling to visit family, storytelling, making jokes, watching action movies, listening to his favorite soul and R&B music, and was well known for his infectious laughter. He leaves to cherish wonderful memories: a devoted significant partner of 23 years, Jackie, his children, Maya and Myron Jr., his siblings, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A funeral service for Myron will be held Monday, April 11, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Campfor United Methodist Church, 585 Fuller Ave, St Paul, MN. with visitation one hour prior to services beginning at 10 AM.
A burial with military honors will occur Tuesday, April 12, 2022 at 1:00 PM at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, 7601 34th Ave S, Minneapolis, MN 55450.
