Myron Papiz

Myron Papiz, age 83 of St. Louis Park, MN passed away peacefully on January 7th, 2021 with his loving son by his side.

Myron was preceded in death by his brother Andrew of 75 years and by his mother, Stephanie and father, Hilary. He is survived by his only son, Stephan of 41 years.

Myron was born on March 23rd, 1937 in Pidhaici, Ukraine and emigrated to the United States in 1949. After graduating in 1964 from the University of Minnesota in Business Administration and Economics, Myron became a professional photographer, showcasing performances by Loyce Houlton’s Minnesota Dance Theater, photographically contributing to academic publications authored by the University of Minnesota Institute of Child Development and illustrating the book “Mister Rogers Talks About”. In 1978 Myron studied computer science at the Control Data Institute and began working as a professional electronics test engineer until his retirement in 2003.

His favorite hobbies included a lifelong passion for computers, electronics, photography and working with digital image processing software. Other hobbies of Myron’s were sound engineering, household improvement projects, old time classic movies, soccer and spending time with his son. Myron could fix anything computer or electronics-related and was a licensed Amateur (Ham) Radio Operator.

For many years Myron was active in the local Ukrainian Community of Northeast Minneapolis and involved with St. Constantine’s Ukrainian Catholic Church. He will be sorely missed by all those who knew him, past and present.

Visitation at Kapala-Glodek-Malone Funeral Home, 7800 Bass Lake Road, New Hope, will be held on Thursday January 14th from 3-6 pm. Funeral Services and Divine Liturgy to be held at St. Constantine’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, 515 University Ave NE, Minneapolis, on Friday, January 15th at 10:00 am, with visitation one hour prior. Burial to follow at Gethsemane Cemetery in New Hope.
