
Patricia “Pat” Marie Egan (Franzen) passed away surrounded by family on January 5, 2026, in Milaca, MN at the age of 86. Pat was born on January 31, 1939, in Minneapolis MN. She married her husband James on December 1, 1956, and became a wife, mother, and meticulous homemaker. Pat later returned to school and received a Certificate in Pastoral Ministry from St. Catherine University. She began her new career as the director of youth religious education services at St. Joseph the Worker Parish in Maple Grove, transferred to Our Lady of the Lake Parish in Mound, then moved to Holy Name of Jesus in Wayzata. Throughout her career she was most proud of her work with the youth in developing the live play, The Crucifixion of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James; parents, Edward and Margaret; brother Robert; brothers-in-law, Dennis and Jeff; nephew, Jonathan; great-niece, Madeline and great nephew Jake.
She is survived by her daughter, Barb (Mark) Malzahn and children, Anna (Andy), Joseph (Abby), Andrew (Ashley); son, Mike (Lisa) Egan and children, Shyler (Nate), Matthew; son, Jim (Frances) Egan and daughter, Emma; daughter Patty (Arlen) Taylor and children, Kayla and Corrine; her sisters, Sharon (Art), Teresa, Mary, Jeanne; her brother, Edward (Linda); 9 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews.
She is remembered for her love of Christmas and hosting Christmas Eve celebrations, planning yearly family summer vacations, traveling to France with her sisters, playing Bridge and 500, enjoying good conversations with a cup of coffee and of course, a little something sweet. Pat was an excellent cook, and her homemade apple pie was out of this world! She loved sharing her talent and recipes with loved ones.
A Catholic Mass with luncheon to follow will be held on January 20, 2026, at 11:00 am with a Visitation from 10:00 am until time of mass at Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church at 21304 Church Ave, Rogers, MN. Following the luncheon, all are welcome to join the family for the Interment Service at Gethsemane Cemetery 8151 N 42nd Ave, New Hope, MN. In Lieu of flowers, contributions may be given to the family.
