Beloved Father, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather, Uncle, and Friend. Age 100, of Robbinsdale, passed peacefully with family at his home on Sunday morning, September 8, 2013. He was born in Cedar Lake, MN on November 25, 1912, the son of Thomas & Ellen (O’Connor) Kennefick. He worked on the family farm until age 18. Tom then moved to Minneapolis. In 1942, he joined the US Army. He served in Europe and was wounded in action; he earned a purple heart. (He was the oldest and longest standing member of Charles R. Knaeble VFW Post 494, Crystal MN.) After the war, Tom married Lorna Robideau in 1947. They were blessed with four children. Tom retired after 31 years as a maintenance foreman at the Star Tribune. His wife Lorna preceded him in death in 1995. Tom is survived by his four children: Kay (Brian) Lokkesmoe, Kevin (Pat) Kennefick, Jeanne (Daryl) Krumwiede, and John (Jean) Kennefick; 10 grandchildren: Jeffrey (Michelle) Kennefick, Beth (Jake) Kivett, Megan (Brendan) Flynn, Dawn (Nate) McGowan, Brad Lokkesmoe (Melissa Amundsen), Colin Ireland, Anne (Matt) Hellmuth, Molly (Ben) Cirillo, Todd Krumwiede, and Kelly Kennefick (Josh Linn); 10 great-grandchildren (and one soon-to-be): Boden & Elsa Kivett, Riley & Kieran Flynn, Emma, Claire & Connor Kennefick, Zach & Evan McGowan, and Gavin Hellmuth; as well as extended family and dear friends. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his four sisters: Norine Kennefick, Agnes Lackner, Marie Spernick, and Margaret Stimart. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Thomas at 10 AM on Tuesday, September 10 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 4087 West Broadway, Robbinsdale. Visitation one hour prior to Mass at church. Interment with military honors will follow in Gethsemane Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated to the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) or to the organization of the donor’s choice.
