

Passed away peacefully surrounded by family in Crystal, MN at the age of 73. Preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Mary Ann; parents, Raymond and Elodie; grandson, Marcus; nephew, James Scott and brother-in-law, Duane Benoit. Vernon will be sadly missed by children, Cindy, Warren (Sylvia), Michael, Shari Eckerman and Gregory; sister, Charlene Benoit; 10 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; 4 nieces and nephews; 12 grand nieces and grand nephews; special friends to the family, Kris Fuller, Renata Clinton, Kim Case-Brengman and Kristin Brengman; many other relatives and dear friends. Vernon was born in Crookston, MN, graduated from Ada High School in 1955, attended St. Cloud University, was in the National Guard for 10 years and was employed by the Star Tribune for 44 years. Vernon was an avid train enthusiast and a member of the Great Northern Railway Historical Society, he loved to attend Ada High School reunions and yearly railroad conventions. Vernon had 10 years of enjoyable retirement. He loved to travel, spend time with his family and spent many weekends fishing in his boat with his son, Michael. He found lots of fish and lost plenty of Michael's lures. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St. Joseph's Parish. Visitation will be on Thursday, July 14 from 4-8 p.m. Prayer Vigil at 7 p.m. at Kapala-Glodek-Malone Funeral Chapel 7800 Bass Lake Road in New Hope. Mass of Christian Burial Friday, July 15 at 10:30 a.m. Visitation 9:30 a.m. at The Parish Community of St. Joseph, 8701 36th Ave. No. in New Hope. Interment at Gethsemane Catholic Cemetery.
