Joseph D. Purcell

Joseph D. Purcell, son of the late Joseph & Mary Purcell was born on June 19, 1930 in New York, NY and was raised on 134th Street, Vinegar Hill. Joseph received his Bachelors of Fire Science from John Jay College of Criminal Justice. He proudly worked for over 35 years in the FDNY where he rose to the rank of Battalion Chief. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus in New Hyde Park. Joseph passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on May 5, 2016. Loving husband of Josephine. Beloved father of Joseph (Louise), Ann (George) & Margaret (Anthony). Cherished grandfather of Joseph, Maureen, William, Grace, PJ, Caitlin, Sean & Tara. Dear brother of Bill, Patrick (Simone) & Mary (Al) Danklefsen. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Monday from 2-4 & 7-9pm. Funeral mass Tuesday 10:15am Notre Dame RC Church. Interment to follow at Holy Rood Cemetery.
