

William Kevin Wissinger, 93, of Garden City Park, New York, died Sunday morning, November 30, 2014. He was married to the late Elizabeth T. Wissinger for 54 years, whom he met when they both worked for BOAC, now British Airways. He was the son of the late Leo and Beatrice (O’Connor) Wissinger.
Bill grew up in Altoona, Pennsylvania, where family and friends all called him Kevin. He began answering to “Bill” when he joined the Army Air Corps in 1943. He served as a navigator during World War II, guided all his missions home safely, and remained in the Air Force after the War until 1947, when he retired as a Captain. He moved to New York to work in Operations at BOAC; once in New York it also was easy for him to indulge his love and knowledge of baseball.
Survivors include daughters Stephanie Wissinger (Antonio) and Anne-Louise Scandariato (Anthony); niece Shannan Ganz of Altoona, PA; and the Janeczko family: Barbara and Adam, Klaudia, Sylvia and Kathy.
