Rynella - Funeral services will be celebrated for Albert C. "Al" Comeaux, age 66, at 10:00 am Tuesday, June 18, 2013, at St. Marcellus Catholic Church. Deacon Theo Landry will officiate. Interment will follow in St. Marcellus Mausoleum. Military honors will be conducted by V.F.W. Post 1982 of New Iberia.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at Evangeline Funeral Home on Monday from 3:00 pm until 10:00 pm, and will resume on Tuesday from 8:00 am until 9:30 am.
A native and lifelong resident of New Iberia, Mr. Comeaux passed away on Thursday, June 13, 2013 at The Regional Medical Center of Acadiana following a brief illness.
"Al" as he was known by family and friends, proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. His service continued to his community with Al being a past volunteer Fire Chief of the Rynella Fire Dept, and a past Captain of the Mine Rescue Team at Cargill Salt Mine, where he retired with 38 years service.
Outside of work, Al enjoyed camping, fishing, and crabbing at Grand Isle with his family and friends. He leaves behind many fond memories that will forever be cherished by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Linda Crowder Romero Comeaux of Rynella; his son, Chad D. Comeaux and Fiancee' Nicole Peltier of New Iberia; 6 grandchildren, Gerald Porrier, Rusty Cooper, Shonda David, Faith Comeaux, Kylin Comeaux, and Brayden Comeaux; 4 great grandchildren, Brooklyn Broussard, Chloe Porrier, Kylie Porrier and Payten Cooper; his sister and brothers, Vickie Rowan and husband Richard, Mark Comeaux and wife Millie, and Larry Comeaux and wife Patti all of New Iberia; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a daughter and son, Rhonda Comeaux David and Brent Charles Comeaux; and his parents, Homer and Shirley Comeaux.
Serving as pallbearers will be his Army buddies who served with him in the Vietnam War, and family. Honorary pallbearers will be Larry and Mark Comeaux, Richard Rowan, and Hunter Faulk.
