Born on February 28, 1935 to the late Isaac and Georgia LeBlanc Delcambre in New Iberia, LA.
Alura was employed at Jungle Gardens as a bookkeeper for many years. She was a member of St. Marcellus Catholic Church, Ladies Auxiliary unit 335 and the Ladies Altar Society.
Her hobbies included reading, dancing, watching TV and daily Mass.
The love she had for her family was undeniable and most important to her. They will all cherish the memories and always hold them near and dear to their hearts.
Alura is survived by her five children, Roddy Benoit and Geanna; Kenny Benoit; Patricia Comeaux and Larry; Penny Benoit and Diggy and Wendy Benoit; five grandchildren, April Campbell and Mike; Ryan Comeaux and Kayla; Mallory Gary and Jory; Brodie Comeaux and Rebecca; Blair Benoit and Tyler; nine great grandchildren, Gage Boutte, Cole Comeaux, Collin Comeaux, Emma Lomis, Reese Anslum, Omi Campbell, Palmer Comeaux, Beaux Comeaux and Belle Broussard; one sister Gail Castille and Larry; sister in laws, Jo Delcambre and Kathy Delcambre.
Preceded in death by the love of her life and husband of 60 years, William “Bill” Benoit; her parents, great grandson, Micah Campbell; two brothers, Larry Delcambre and Rickey Delcambre and one sister, Betty Landry.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, July 7, 2022 at 10:30 am at St. Marcellus Catholic Church with Fr. Randy Courville officiating. Mallory Gary and Geanna Benoit will be lectures and April Campbell, Blair Benoit and Gage Boutte will serve as gift bearers.
She will be laid to rest at St. Marcellus Mausoleum.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Wednesday, July 6, 2022 at Evangeline Funeral Home from 4:00 pm until 9:00 pm with a Rosary at 6:00 pm. The funeral home will reopen at 8:00 am on Thursday until 10:00 am.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Roddy Benoit, Kenny Benoit, Brodie Comeaux, Larry Comeaux, Mike Campbell, Diggy Boudreaux and Jory Gary. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren will be honorary pallbearers.
The family would like to thank Iberia Medical Center, Iberia Manor South Rehab and Hospice of Acadiana Nurse, Seth Pouche; and all of her CNA’s for the love and care provided to their mother. Also Mr. Dan Duncan for his Eucharistic services each week.
