Anna Mae LaPointe, our beloved mother, grandmother, great and great great grandmother, and dear friend to so many, passed away peacefully Wednesday, July 20, 2022 at Iberia Medical Center surrounded in love by her family. At her passing she was 90.
Anna Mae was born January 29, 1932 in rural Vermilion Parish in what was known as the LeBlanc Community to the late Eloi LaPointe and the late Victoria Romero LaPointe. She was raised in a family steeped in cajun tradition and took pride in her heritage. Many will remember Anna Mae from the years that she tended bar all over New Iberia. Her children spoke of how she would end her shift at one bar and move on to the next, having a great time serving drinks and visiting with the patrons. Her kindness and fun loving spirit kept people coming back night after night for great drinks and an even better laugh.
Throughout the years, Anna Mae continued to tend bar and soon began a new chapter in her life as a caregiver. It was a job that she absolutely loved and wouldn’t miss for anything. Her children spoke of her loyalty to her patients and their families. With tears in their eyes and a smile and laugh, they spoke of how she would only go places or do anything with them, as long as it was on the weekend so she wouldn’t miss taking care of her people. She truly had a servants’ heart and love for others.
And we can’t speak of Anna Mae without saying the obvious. She was a fun loving friend with a crazy spirit whose personality drew you to her. And once you got to know her, you were her friend. Her love and compassion for her family and friends were her greatest traits and we were blessed to have her in our lives. We will certainly miss her, but know that she is not gone, only gone on before us.” Her legacy will continue to live through her family and they will all be reunited with her one day. Rest well Momma. We love you.
Those left to cherish her memory are her six children, Moureen Ransonet (Tommy Ransonet, Sr.), Teddy Bares (Cissi Bares), Evette B. LeBlanc (Russell LeBlanc), Michael Bares, Angela Pellerin (Derek Pellerin) and Ricky Roche; her grandchildren whom she adored, Kim Ransonet, April Gary, Tommy Ransonet, Jr., Dwight Ransonet, Marc Touchet, Torie Rudisill, Candace Trahan, Nicholas LeBlanc, Trent LeBlanc, Ervin Bares, Jake Bares, Noah Pellerin and Dane Roche; 26 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.
