NEW IBERIA – A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Anna Mae Segura Aucoin, age 87, at 10:00 am Monday, May 20, 2013 at Nativity of Our Lady Catholic Church. Fr. Edward Duhon will be the celebrant. Interment will follow in Nativity of Our Lady Mausoleum.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at Evangeline Funeral Home on Sunday from 2:00 pm until 9:00 pm, with the Rosary being recited at 6:30 pm. The funeral home will reopen on Monday from 8:00 am until 9:30 am.
Anna Mae was born May 23, 1925 in Delcambre to the late Sully J. Segura and Elina Touchet Segura, and was one of 10 children. She passed away just 8 days before she would have celebrated her 88th birthday, on May 17, 2013 at Maison de Lafayette Nursing Home.
Anna Mae was a homemaker who loved the time spent with her family and friends. If she wasn’t caring for her beautiful flower garden, she was enjoying a visit from her family. She was also very active outside of the home. Anna Mae was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, New Iberia Boat Club, and the Bon Annee Supper club. Traveling was also a pastime she enjoyed. Many memorable trips were taken with her family and friends. Her favorite places visited were Branson, MO, Hawaii, and Spain.
She leaves behind many fond memories that will forever be cherished by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her children, Terry J. Bodin, Sr. and wife Sandry, Ronald Bodin and wife Leona, and Monica Bodin VIator all of New Iberia; her step-children, Linda Aucoin of Thibodaux, Susan Norris and husband Bobby of New Iberia, and Stan Aucoin and wife Lisa of Youngsville; 6 grandchildren, Terry Bodin, Jr., Trent Bodin, Tyson Bodin, Kim Aucoin, Ronni Lynn Gachassin and Garrett Viator; 9 step-grandchildren, Brent Aucoin, Dawn Fremin, Robby Norris, Mike Norris, Anthony Norris, June Bourque, Stan Aucoin, Jr., Nichole Guillotte, and Kevin Aucoin; numerous great-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren; and her sister, Zella “Petit” Landry of Delcambre.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her 1st husband, Utile A. Bodin; 2nd husband, Leroy S. Aucoin; a step-son, Cliff Aucoin; and her sisters and brothers, Lillie Delcambre, Ulysse, Larry, Wiltz, Gaston, J.C., Lloyd and Leewood Segura.
Pallbearers will be members of the family.
