

NEW IBERIA – Funeral Services will be conducted for Mr. Archie Leo Bradburn, age 91, at 2:30 pm Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at New Iberia Church of Christ with Minister Ken Wright officiating. Graveside Services will be held on Friday, January 17, 2014 at 11:00 am at Paoli Cemetery in Paoli, OK with military honors.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 pm until service time on Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at Church of Christ, 667 Charles Street, New Iberia, LA.
A native of Welty, OK, former resident of Paoli, OK and resident of New Iberia, Mr. Bradburn passed away at 9:50 am on Sunday, January 12, 2014 at Dauterive Hospital.
Mr. Bradburn was a Veteran of WWII serving in the 136th Field Artillery Battalion in the Southern Philippines and was Honorably Discharged on December 22, 1945.
He was employed at Kerr McGee for many years, starting as a roughneck and working his way up to Superintendent of Operations before retiring and was a member of the New Iberia Church of Christ having served as an Elder.
Mr. Bradburn was an avid and accomplished golfer. He made a “Hole in One” twice and at the age of 76 shot a 76. He won several tournaments including, First Flight Winner in the Houma Oil Tournament, 1974; First Place in the Gulf Coast Oil Tournament, 1982 and First Place at the Acadiana Pro-AM Assoc, 1988.
He continued to enjoy golfing into his 90’s and also was a Marshall at Squirrel Run Country Club. He played AAA ball for the Cleveland Indians and enjoyed coaching his grandson, Jason’s baseball teams at Evangeline Little League and Iberia Youth Baseball Association. He also enjoyed playing card games with his family and keeping his lawn perfectly groomed.
He is survived by his children, Joe Boyd Bradburn and wife Marcia of the Woodlands, TX; Michael Lee Bradburn and wife Linda and Kay Bradburn Marcel and husband Stephen all of New Iberia; five grandchildren, Joe Boyd “Brad” Bradburn, Jr. and wife Elizabeth of Austin, TX; Archie Leo Bradburn, II and wife Mindy of the Woodlands, TX; Bridget Bradburn Hollums and husband Christian of the Woodlands, TX; Jason Guy Marcel and wife Erin of Urbandale, IA and Joel Michael Marcel of New Iberia; seven great grandchildren, Christian Zin, Megan Zin, Luke Bradburn, Helena Bradburn, Ezra Bradburn, Maya Marcel and Finn Marcel and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 69 years, Joan Morrow Bradburn; parents, Nellie Bly Allen Bradburn and Joe Eleck Bradburn; one brother, Jessie Bradburn and three sisters, Alice Bradburn Early, Mae Bradburn Kissire and Beatrice Bradburn White.
Pallbearers will be Brad Bradburn, Archie Bradburn, Jason Marcel, Stephen Marcel, Joel Marcel, Christian Zin, Randy Reed and Harold Madeley.
Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Reed, Don Thomas, Kim Touchet, Walter Skinner, Karl Harvison and Jerry Trahan.
