Beatrice, affectionately known as “Maw” went home to be with her heavenly Father on Thursday, December 3, 2015, after being a good and faithful mother, wife, and grandmother here on earth. She was born October 10, 1925 to Elier and Olita Romero, who preceded her in death. Mrs. Menard was 90 years at the time of her death.
Beatrice had a very strong faith and was a life-long parishioner of Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church. There was no excuse not to attend Mass in her eyes and she prayed the Rosary daily. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and was a very hard worker. Beatrice enjoyed spending time on her farm raising all sorts of farm animals. She loved to play cards but was known for her cooking. There was no one who could make a “sauce” like Maw.
Survivors include her daughters, Linda Evans and spouse Danny, Jo Ann Boudreaux and spouse Norman, Phyllis DeBarge and spouse Luther; her nine grandchildren, Marty Menard, Monica McClendon, Sean and Derek Evans, Brandi Collins, Deidra Castille, Blake Boudreaux, Brittany Chataignier, and Leah Stoute; 18 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; and her sister, Lucy Hebert and spouse Charles.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Neville “Joe” Menard; her son, James Menard; and a brother, Eddie “Chip” Romero.
Serving as pallbearers will be Marty Menard, Sean Evans, Derek Evans, Blake Boudreaux, Norman Boudreaux, Danny Evans, and Luther DeBarge.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to all those who have helped both medically and emotionally for the loving and compassionate care given to Maw. Special thanks to Dr. Jose Mata, Nurse Karen and staff, and the nurses and staff at Dauterive Hospital.
