Bertha Picard Pesson

NEW IBERIA – A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Mrs. Bertha Picard Pesson, age 89, at 1:00 pm Saturday, March 12, 2011 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church. Fr. Charles Langlois will be the celebrant. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.

A gathering of family and friends will be held at Evangeline Funeral Home on Saturday from 8:30 am until 12:30 pm with the rosary at 10:00 am.

Mrs. Pesson passed away Thursday, March 10, 2011 at her home with her loving family at her side.

Bertha was born December 17, 1921 on Jefferson Island to Otto and Levie David Picard. She was a homemaker, but worked alongside her husband at the service stations that they owned and operated and also with his bus route. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family.

Survivors include her children, Sandra Marie Pesson of New Iberia, Glenn Paul Pesson of Broussard, and Toni Pesson Adams of Thibodaux; four grandchildren, Brent Delcambre, Nicolle Delcambre, Sharry Adams Lehman, and Lauren Adams Haas; nine great grandchildren; her sisters, Mildred LeBlanc and Genevieve “Genny” Comeaux of New Iberia, Judy Driggers of Union, SC; and a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul A. Pesson; parents, Otto and Levie David Picard; her step-father, Edward Trahan; grandson, Brett Paul Delcambre; and brothers, Claude, Russley, Felton and Harold Trahan.
