
A native of New Orleans and resident of St. Martinville, Mrs. Perkins passed away at 3:04 pm on Thursday, March 14, 2013 at her residence.
Mrs. Perkins was known to many as a very Godly woman who loved Christ and was blessed with an extremely loving husband and family. Under dire circumstances, she worked tirelessly to keep her family together and provide a good home for her children. Betty was a gifted and accomplished artist and teacher who painted under the name “Ruffindale” and ran a New Orleans art shop for many years. Many of her students also became noted artist. She was a tireless worker providing exceptional care to her mother, aunts and mother-in-law, selflessly giving of herself and never knowing the meaning of the phrase, “I can’t.” She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her sons, Ruffin “Skeeter” T. Perkins, III and wife Beth of Harvey, LA, Ernest Churchill Perkins and wife Sandra of Duson, LA, William G. Perkins and wife Halina of St. Martinville; daughters, Mary Catharine Waters and husband Danny of Picayune, MS, Betty Jane Jennings of Mandeville, LA; brother, Lloyd Neutz and wife Marion of Grass Valley, CA; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-seven great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ruffin Trousdale Perkins, Jr.; parents, Harry Derchelot Neutz and Pearl Pohlman Neutz; grandson, Robert Luke duSang; sisters, Roberta Lee Morin, Jane Thomas; and brother, Harry Lockwood Neutz.
