NEW IBERIA – A gathering celebrating the life of Mrs. Welvan “Sonny” Leger, the former Beulah M. LeBouef, will be held at Evangeline Funeral Home on Sunday, August 28, 2016 from 9:00 am until 1:45. She will then be laid to rest with her husband at Memorial Park Cemetery at 2:00 pm.

A native and resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Leger passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 27, 2016 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Beulah was a homemaker who loved spending time with her 5 generations of family. In her younger days, she loved cooking for the family and sharing a meal. Some of her pastimes included playing Pokino and trips to the casino with family and friends. She was a mother first and foremost and her love and adoration for her family was immeasurable. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her children, Mark Cunningham and wife Sharen of New Iberia, Julie C. Romero of New Iberia, Raye Ann Enriquez and husband Louis of Waxahachie, TX, and Troy Leger and wife Vicki of Lydia; brothers, Romeal LeBouef and wife Amelia of New Iberia, Charles “Jim” LeBouef and wife Jennel of New Iberia, and Edward LeBouef and wife Pearl of New Iberia; sister, Mildred Romero of New Iberia; 10 grandchildren, Ann Marie Duplantis and Steven, Nichole Cunningham-Harmon and Jeremy, Tiffanie Domingue and Adam, Jamie Broussard and Ricky, Sammie Louviere and fiancé Troy Reed, Quentin Louviere and fiance’ Capri, Jessica Enriquez, Louis Enriquez, Jr., Tristan Leger and Alanah, and Addie Leger; great grandchildren, Bryce Louviere, Brennen Creighton, Brayden Creighton, Alyssa Domingue, Tyler Broussard, Jessie Broussard, Blade Broussard, Tate Buteau, Trevor Alexander, Torie Alexander, Baylin Louviere, Ashtin Louviere, Trent Hutchison, Kameron Mendes, Devan Mendes, Gage Kubankin, Gabriel Kubankin, Starr Kubankin, Korra Ramsey, Ty Kriska, Eric Mendes, Alyssa Alsup, Austin Bailey, Alex Duplantis, Ashton Duplantis, Alexis Cunningham, Shea Cunningham, Landon Harmon, and Avery Leger; a grandsonin-law, Van Mendes; five great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husdand, Welvan “Sonny” Leger; her son, Jeffery W. Cunningham; a son-in-law, Adam “Chester” Romero; her granddaughter, Apirl Louise Langlinais; her great grandson, Shelby Reed; her parents, Charles and Louise Romero LeBouef; and brother, Dennis LeBouef.

Pallbearers will be Troy Leger, Tristan Leger, Quentin Louviere, Louis Enriquez, Jr., Bryce Louviere and Tate Buteau.
