It is with profound sorrow and deep love that the Segura family announces the passing of Calvin J. Segura, Sr., a devoted husband, beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather, brother, and cherished friend. Calvin passed away peacefully at his home on October 6, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was 69 years old.
Born on January 6, 1956, in New Iberia, Louisiana, Calvin was the son of the late Ellis Paul Segura and the late Eunice Dore' Segura. Raised in a family rich in Cajun heritage, Calvin learned from an early age the importance of hard work and kindness—values that shaped every chapter of his life. As a child, he spent long hours in the fields with his brothers, picking okra, an experience that instilled in him a lifelong work ethic.
Calvin was a hardworking man, employed in the oilfield with various companies throughout the region. He also worked alongside his beloved wife, Marjorie, for the City of New Iberia in the Parks and Recreation Department—a role he thoroughly enjoyed and took great pride in.
Calvin was never happier than when he was surrounded by those he loved. Family was his greatest joy. A talented cook, he was especially known for his legendary spaghetti and his love of barbequing. Those lucky enough to sit at his table always left full and content. He was also an outdoorsman, finding peace and joy in fishing and crabbing trips with his son, Calvin Jr.—as long as the boat stayed clean and shoes came off before boarding, a family memory that brings a smile to many.
In his leisure time, Calvin enjoyed watching football—always cheering on his beloved Pittsburgh Steelers—and playing cards with family and friends. But above all, his most treasured moments were spent with his family. Marjorie lovingly shares that while he was a wonderful husband, he was an even better grandfather and great-grandfather. His bond with his brother and best friend, Rolling, was one of deep friendship and brotherhood. And the light of his life in recent years was his great-granddaughter, Harper, with whom he shared precious memories that will last her a lifetime.
Though our hearts are heavy, we take comfort in knowing that Calvin is now reunited with loved ones who passed before him. He is at peace, and we look forward to the day we will meet again. Rest easy, Calvin. We love you dearly.
Calvin leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Marjorie P. Segura; his children, Calvin J. Segura, Jr. (Misty), Christy Segura, Terry Porrier, and Brad Segura; his grandchildren, Jordan Segura, Madison Lester (Austin), and Kelsee Thibodeaux; great-grandchildren, Everleigh Segura and Harper Lester; his brother, Rolling Segura, Sr. (Brenda); his sister, Doris Marin (Mondo); His sister-in-law, Lena Segura; his favorite nephews, Karl Segura (Misty) and Rolling Segura, Jr. (Kristi); and his niece, Dawn Segura (Josh).
