Carolyn Derouen Comeaux

NEW IBERIA – A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Carolyn Derouen Comeaux, age 65, at 10:00 am Tuesday, March 5, 2012 at St. Peters Catholic Church. Fr. Jude Halphen will be the celebrant. Interment will follow in Holy Family Cemetery.

A gathering of family and friends will be held at Evangeline Funeral Home on Monday from 2:00 pm with the funeral home remaining open all night until time of service on Tuesday. The rosary will be prayed at 6:30 pm on Monday.

Carolyn was born August 14, 1947 in New Iberia to the late Lawrence Derouen and Lela Romero Derouen Benoit, and passed away on Saturday, March 2, 2013 at her residence.

Mrs. Comeaux was a homemaker who enjoyed the time spent with her family. They shared many memorable meals, family get-togethers, and camping trips that will always be cherished. Carolyn was also a devoted parishioner of St. Peters Catholic Church and faithfully attended the 5:00 pm mass on Saturday. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend and will be missed dearly.

Survivors include her husband of 48 years, Paul J. Comeaux of New Iberia; her children, Shane Paul Comeaux and wife Derissa, Paula Marie Comeaux, Camie Lynn Comeaux Mejia and husband Sergio, and Jennifer Erwin and husband Larry all of New Iberia; 15 grandchildren, Spencer, Jake, Christopher, Christian, Kaitlyn, Britney, Seth, Shane, Jr., Sye, Karina, Kaden, Chance, Chelsi, Jenna and Jade; one great grandchild, Evan; her sisters, Millie Rodrigue, Rose Dore, Jackie LeBlanc, Claylee LeBlanc; and two brothers, Clifton and Allen Benoit.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Kenneth Paul Comeaux; and her sisters and brothers, May Etta, Joyce, Herman and Elray Derouen.

Serving as pallbearers will be Shane Comeaux, Larry Erwin, Spencer Comeaux, Christopher Khuu, Seth Derouen, Chance Erwin, and Justin Bourque.
