Charles "George" G. Messinger Jr., 68, of New Iberia, Louisiana, passed away on Wednesday, February 21, 2024. Born in Lake Charles, Louisiana, he was the son of Ethel Pellerin Viator and Charles George Messinger, Sr.
George leaves behind a loving family, including his siblings, David Messinger (Carol), Mark Messinger (Karen), and Christal Messinger.
He is also remembered by his numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews, who will miss his presence in their lives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles George Messinger, Sr. and Ethel Pellerin Viator.
A proud Army veteran, George served his country with honor and was stationed overseas in Korea. His time in the service was a significant part of his life, instilling values of loyalty, courage, and resilience that he carried with him always.
George was a man of simple pleasures; he found joy in the comfort of his chair, watching football games, especially when the Saints were playing, and diving into the realms of science fiction through his cherished book collection. These moments of peace and excitement were among his favorites.
Details of a memorial mass to honor George's life will be announced at a later date.
