Christopher James Jenkins, a loving husband and son, and an even prouder father passed away Wednesday, April 15, 2020 at the young age of 36.

Christopher was born February 14, 1984 in New Iberia to Anthony “Tony” Jenkins and the late Martha Willcox Jenkins. While in High School he met the love of his life, Megan McDonald and they have been together ever since. He went to work right out of high school as a HVAC installer and worked with both Butcher Air Conditioning and Air Serve until he was not able to work any longer.

Chris was so proud to be a father to his two children and lived every day of his life for them. As an avid sports fan, especially baseball, it was no wonder that he would coach his children in baseball. Chris was a diehard fan of the Saints (when tickets were cheap and fans were few) and the LSU Tigers. In the years that he was not able to work outside the home, Chris became the rock of his family and supported Megan by taking care of their household. Though he wasn’t a cook early on, he taught himself and could whip up any meal imaginable, especially a good BBQ or seafood boil.

Chris will always be remembered for his love of family and life and will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. Rest well Chris and enjoy your eternal reward in Heaven. Until we meet again.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Megan McDonald; his son and daughter, Noah and Bailey Jenkins; his father, Anthony “Tony” Jenkins (Bonnie); his sister, Lacie Dowdy; and his step-brother and step-sisters, Dane Etie, Kayleigh Etie, Beth Robertson, Sarah Robertson and Christine Ropnsonet; and his Godchild, Jayden Jenkins.

Along with his mother, he was preceded in death by his step-mother, Pauline Jenkins; his brother Josh Jenkins who passed away just 3 months ago; and his grandparents, Lou and James Jenkins.

Private services will be held for Chris and he will be laid to rest at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Mausoleum in Coteau.

Family and friends are encouraged to visit Chris’s memorial page at www.evangelinefuneralhome.com to share their memories and condolences.

Somewhere between 1992 & 1994 I lived at Spanish Apartments. I could look out my patio door and see Anthony & Martha & Chris house. My son Jared & Chris hung out together as children. Chris came sleep over one night and him and Jared did goofy things all night to amuse them selves. I have pictures of some of those goofy things they did. it was a good fun night for all of us.

Thank you Chris for the memories and being a part of our lives.
