

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 10, 2011 for Clara Judice, the former Clara Belle Potier, who passed away Sunday, May 8, 2011 at her residence, with her family at her side. Mrs Judice was a native of Scott La. She was a 1946 graduate of Scott high School and moved to New Iberia in 1954 where she lived until the time of her death.
Survivors include her husband Lee J. Judice of New Iberia; her nine children, Cynthia Abshire and husband Glenn of New Iberia, Deborah Ready and husband Pat of Lafayette, Peggy LaCroix and husband Richard of Broussard, Mack Laperouse and wife Ann of Clinton, Cheryl Laperouse of Zachary, Maxine Laperouse of Lafayette, Sheila Parich and husband Sam of Magnolia,TX, Neal Laperouse, James Laperouse Jr. and wife Ladonna, step son Phil Judice and wife Jodie of L.afayette, her brother Floydria Poitier of Egan, a close family friend, Gale Stafford, and her faithful dog, Allie.
She is also survived by twenty two grandchildren, Dawn Abshire Derouen and husband Jeff, David Abshire and wife Rachel, Elizabeth Ready Bass and husband Michael, Patrick Ready, Drew Ready, Kelly Sonnier Simon and husband Jonathan, Jeremy Sonnier, Laney LaCroix,Dillon Domingue and wife Karen, Max Domingue,Sam Parich III and wife Leigh, Sarah Parich, Skyler Parich,Jamie Laperouse Maninna and husband Michael, Daniel Laperouse, Kyle Toucheque and wife Tiffany, Natalie Markle, Lexie and Mitchell Laperouse and Marie Henderson; two step grandchildren Chip Scoggin and Krystal Pilgram and husband Charlie on Pleasanton,TX; sixteen great grandchildren, Chloe Derouen, Layla Abshire, Blythe and Hayes Bass, Ava, Aubree, Ryan and Cole Simon,Jillian, Jenna, Hunter and Gavin Sonnier, Sophia Domingue,Cade Maninna and Alyssa and Rihanna Henderson. Eleven step great grand hildren and two step great, great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dudley and Lonay Begnaud Potier, three brothers Howard, Dudley and Ray Potier, all of Scott, two grandchildren, Steven Abshire and Laurie Ready.
Mrs. Judice devoted her life to her family; she loved and nurtured nine children. She enjoyed reading and travel; she traveled the world extensively with her loving husband Lee. She was active in her church community until she became ill. She also enjoyed an occasional trip to a casino. She was loved and respected and will be greatly missed.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church at 10:00 am on Tuesday, May 10, 2011. Fr. Mark Derise will be the celebrant. Interment will be at Holy Family Mausoleum.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at Evangeline Funeral Home on Monday from 5:00 pm until 10:00 pm, with the Rosary being recited at 6:30 pm. The funeral home will reopen on Tuesday from 8:00 am until 9:30 am.
Pallbearers will be Mack, Neal, and Jim Laperouse, Phil Judice, Glenn Abshire, Pat Ready, Richard LaCroix and Sam Parich, Jr.
The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff of AAA Home Health and Hospice, Home Instead Sr. Care, especially Jamie, Gail and all of the wonderful nurses. Also to Dr. G.D. Sagrera, her family physician for over 50 years, her pastor, Fr. Mark Derise, and to the family who cared for her during her illness and finals days.
