Clifford Paul Meyers

NEW IBERIA – Funeral Services will be conducted for Mr. Clifford Paul Meyers, age 66, at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at Evangeline Funeral Home with Deacon Theo Landry officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Family Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2:00 pm until 10:00 pm on Tuesday with a Rosary being recited by the Catholic Daughters at 6:30 pm. The funeral home will reopen at 10:00 am on Wednesday until service time.

A native and resident of New Iberia, Mr. Meyers passed away on Friday, February 5, 2016 at Iberia Medical Center.

Clifford Meyers was born on September 29, 1949 to the late Wesley Paul Meyers and Irene Gary Migues. He was one of four children.

Mr. Meyers proudly served his country from 1970–1972 in the United States Army. He trained as a wireman and mechanic at Fort Polk in Louisiana before being transferred to Fort Jackson in South Carolina. During his time in the service, Mr. Meyers was given commendations in sharpshooting and marksmanship and a National Defense Service Medal. He was honorably discharged in February of 1972. Clifford continued his service in the Army National Guard for another ten years.

Clifford later went on to work for the Iberia Parish School Board, Larry Verret Trucking Co., and finally as a valve technician for Superior Valve.

Mr. Meyers was an avid pool player. He belonged to the APA Pool League where he ranked as a three. Clifford also served as a coach on Verna’s Very Special Bowling League. He loved the members of the league dearly. Clifford was a member of the ACE Coffee Club.

Clifford was a loving father, grandfather, friend, brother, and uncle. He loved his grandchildren dearly and they were the light of his life. He will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his wife of thirty-six years, Donna Deslatte Meyers; sons, Wesley Meyers and wife Nicole of Las Vegas, NV and Raymond Meyers of New Iberia; grandchildren, Landon Meyers and Brylee Meyers of Las Vegas, NV; brothers, Minos Meyers and wife Debbie and Leroy Migues both of New Iberia; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; step-father, Lawless Migues; grandparents; sister, Mary Ann Maturin; and mother and father-in-law, Barbara and Raymond Deslatte.

Pallbearers will be Wesley Meyers, Raymond Meyers, Trent Meyers, Carl Deslatte, Daniel Faulk, and Floyd Marceaux, Jr.

Honorary pallbearers will be Minos Meyers and Leroy Migues.
