Craig James Lopez

New Iberia – Funeral services will be celebrated for Craig James Lopez, age 39, at 10:00 am Wednesday, February 4, 2015 at Evangeline Funeral Home. Deacon Gerald Bourg will officiate. Interment will follow at Broussard Cemetery Annex in Bayou Petit Anse.

A gathering of family and friends will be held at Evangeline Funeral Home on Tuesday from 1:00 pm until 9:00 pm, with the Rosary being prayed at 6:00 pm. The funeral home will reopen on Wednesday from 8:00 am until time of services.

Craig was born September 8, 1975 in New Iberia and passed away Saturday, January 31, 2015 at Dauterive Hospital with his family at his side.

Craig was a 1998 graduate of New Iberia Senior High and worked with ARC of Acadiana. Craig had a love for music and was a huge fan of Taylor Swift and Bruno Mars. It was also well known that Craig was one of the biggest and most loyal fans of the New Orleans Saints and LSU Tigers. But his love of family and his dogs was even greater. Some of his most cherished times were those spent with his family eating one of his favorite meals. He will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him.

Survivors include his parents, Cheryl Perez and Craig S. Perez of Lydia; his sisters, Chasity Savage and husband John of New Iberia and Chrissy Buford and boyfriend David Courville of Youngsville; his grandfather, Carroll Perez of Lydia; his nieces and nephews, McKenzie Buford, Adrian Courville, Robert Savoie, Jr. and Trey Savage; and his beloved dogs, Miss Dixie, Sally Girl, Babbee Girl, Lil Lucy, Old Dan and Sassy.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Clemire and Hilda Lopez and Peggy Ransonet Perez; and his aunts, Patricia Owens and Betty Jean Lopez.

Serving as pallbearers will be Robert Savoie, Jr., John Savage, Trey Savage, Carroll Perez, David Courville and Hoa Tran. Honorary pallbearers are Chasity Savage, Chrissy Buford, Adrian Courville, McKenzie Buford, Sylvia Lopez and Devin Owens.

The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to Beth with Nursing Specialties, ARC of Acadiana, Dr. Stephen Boudreaux, and to his bus driver Giselle, for their care and compassion shown to Craig.
