NEW IBERIA – A memorial service celebrating the life of Deborah Lynne Monk Wilson, age 50, will be held at 4:00 pm Friday, November 25, 2016 at Word of Hope World Outreach Church. Brother Zack Mitchell will officiate. A gathering of family and friends will be held at the church (705 W. Adm. Doyle Drive, New Iberia) from 2:00 pm until time of services. Deb will be laid to rest privately at a later date.
Deborah, known by family and friends as “Deb”, was born January 3, 1966 in Milford, Delaware and was raised in New Iberia and Delcambre, where she attended school. She was currently residing in Ord, Nebraska for the past 25 years where she passed away Monday, November 14, 2016.
Deb was a free spirited woman with a beautiful heart and smile. To be kind and generous was a natural part of daily life. As the Director of Habitat for Humanity in Ord, she saw to it that the less fortunate had a home or a place to stay, even if it meant bringing them into her own home. Deb also cleaned houses and local businesses in Ord, and cared for the elderly.
She had a love for life and the outdoors and enjoyed spending time fishing and camping. But her greatest love was for children, especially her nieces and nephews. The memories left by Deb will forever be cherished by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her mother and father, Peggy and Tedray Sonnier; her eight sisters and brothers, Alan Monk and wife Cindy, Scott Sonnier, Casey Sonnier and wife Shirley, Lee Monk, John Monk and wife Emily, Lance Sonnier, Crystal Pontiff and husband Tim and Paula Dugas and husband Brian; her former husband, Jarrod Wilson; her step-son, Justin Wilson; her grandson, Kamden Wilson; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her dear sweet angel, infant Jordan Elise; and her grandparents, Rena and Nobel “Chute” Baudoin, Ruby and JN Eastwood and Eluse and Alice Sonnier.
Donations may be made to the family to assist with funeral expenses in Nebraska.
