Mr. Dolfie was born January 25, 1935 in Erath, Louisiana to the late Joseph and Ouida Lopez Romero. Dolfie was raised from a very early age with a strong work ethic. After finishing school, he enlisted in the Military and proudly served his country in the Navy during the Korean War. Dolfie was retired not once but twice during his lifetime. He spent 25 loyal years with the Jefferson Island Salt Mine where he was a member of the Mine Rescue Team. After the salt mine flood in 1980, Dolfie took on a position with Trappey’s and would spend 16 years with them, retiring at 62. But he would not stop there and went to work with Overhead Door until he decided to finally retire at the age of 78 and enjoyed many wonderful years.
Outside of his work, Dolfie was a member of the American Legion Post 365, VFW Post 1982, and Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church. Many will remember Dolfie from his bowling days and being a member of the New Iberia Bowlers Association. He also enjoyed shooting pool and trips to the casino. Above all, Dolfie’s greatest love was his family. He was always happiest when his days were filled with their presence. His legacy of love and compassion towards others will forever be cherished. Rest well. Until we meet again.

Dolfie told his family many times that if he ever won the lottery, the first thing he would do would be to make sure all children were taken care of.
