Donald Robert Magar

NEW IBERIA – Funeral Services will be conducted for Mr. Donald Robert Magar, age 89, at 1:00 pm Monday, May 28, 2012 at Evangeline Funeral Home with Noah Langley officiating. Interment will be held at Beau Pre Mausoleum.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm until 9:00 pm on Sunday. The funeral home will reopen at 9:00 am on Monday until service time.

A native and resident of New Iberia, Mr. Magar passed away at 3:06 am on Friday, May 25, 2012 at his residence.

Mr. Magar was a Master Mason at the Jeanerette Masonic Lodge #225. He was known as being a very loving, quiet, thoughtful, simple and helpful man who loved his family a great deal. Mr. Magar was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed camping, fishing, birdwatching and his dog Coco. He also liked going to the casino and watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren play. He will be dearly missed by all who loved him.

He is survived by his sons; Richard Magar and wife Terry of New Iberia, Robert Magar and wife Christy of New Iberia, daughters; Donna Hardcastle and husband Johnny of New Iberia, Joy Wilson and husband William of Ohio, grandchildren; Tressie Maki, Michael Wilson, Brian Hardcastle, Eric Hardcastle, Kristian Magar, Nicole Foster, Shawna Falgout, Meghan Magar, Raymond Magar, Hailey Magar, Jayden Magar, Alexzander Magar, great-grandchildren; Kyle Wilson, Dereck Maki, Travis Maki, Nicole Osterhout, Mitchel Wilson, William Wilson, Stephany Wilson, Thommas Wilson, Katie Magar, Kaille Magar, Kincade Magar, Kian Magar, Trevor Foster, Katelyn Foster, Maile-Renae Lyman, Kelsie-Leigh Lyman, Tristyn Foster, Eli Falgout, Jayden Magar and Alexzander Magar.

He was preceded in death by his wife Ima Christian Magar, parents; George and Callie Magar, and siblings; Ted Magar, Claude Magar, William Magar and Oletta Anderson.

Pallbearers will be Kristian Magar, Eric Hardcastle, Brian Hardcastle, Raymond Magar, Michael Wilson and Kaille Magar.
