NEW IBERIA – Funeral services will be conducted for Earnest Watson Terry, age 86, at 1:00 pm on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at Evangeline Funeral Home. Rev. Tracy King will officiate. Interment will be held privately at a later date.
A gathering of family and friends will take place at Evangeline Funeral Home on Saturday from 10:00 am until service time.
A native of Selma, AL and resident of New Iberia, Mr. Terry passed away on Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at Maison Teche Nursing Home in Jeanerette.
Born on March 1, 1932 to the late Earnest L. and Neecy Smith Terry, Earnest was one of six children. Daddy Terry, as he was affectionately called, was a kind a loving man who enjoyed the simple life of country living. He was quite person but cared for his family deeply. Earnest loved to bake and cook and was famous for his pancakes. He will be truly and deeply missed by all those who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his children, Dennis Terry of AL, Doug Terry and wife Jo of Myrtle Beach, SC, Shane Frioux of Chatom, AL, Tina Pellerin and husband Byron of New Iberia, LA, and Krina Donald and Nathan of Gilbert Town, AL; nineteen grandchildren, and seventeen great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by wife, Geraldine LeBlanc Terry; son, Danny Terry; parents, Earnest and Neecy Smith Terry; siblings, Bill Terry, Boyd Terry, Irvin Terry, Betsy Dunaway, and Magalin McGee; daughter-in-law, Teresa Frioux; and son-in-law, Ricky Kelley.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staffs of Bridgeway Hospice and Maison Teche Nursing Home for their care and support.
