NEW IBERIA – Funeral services will be conducted for Edith Bourque Dooley, age 84, at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, August 10, 2021 at Evangeline Funeral Home of New Iberia. Fr. Garrett Savoie will officiate. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
A gathering of family and friends will take place at the funeral home on Tuesday from 9:00 am until the service time. A rosary will be prayed at 11:00 am.
A native and resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Dooley passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 7, 2021 at Ochsner Lafayette General Medical Center.
Born on February 2, 1937 to the late Leonice and Adolie Romero Bourque, Edith was one of nine children. Affectionately known as “Mimi” Edith was a kind and caring woman who enjoyed the simple things in life. She enjoyed playing bingo, going to the casino, and fishing with her late husband and niece. She will forever be remembered as a loving wife, sister, aunt, and friend and will be truly and deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her sister, Lucy Bourque Pete; numerous nieces and nephews; special nieces and devoted caretakers, Dawn B. Duhon, Gwen W. Cope, Lucy “Beb” Bernard, and Judy Bourque; and beloved dog, Dooley.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband Stanley Dooley; parents; brothers, Robert J. Bourque, Zoda Bourque, Wesley Bourque, Rinaud Bourque, and Eno “Black” Bourque; and sisters, Judith “Nan” Bourque and Helen B. Worley.
Pallbearer will be Greg Pete, Guy Bourque, Doug Henneman, Dax Lanclos, and Gage Duhon.
