

LYDIA – A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted for Mrs. Gerlad J. Myers, the former Elda Vera “DeeDee” Hebert, age 69, at 11:00 am Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church with Fr. Donovon Labbe officiating. Interment will follow at St. Nicholas Cemetery in Patoutville.
Visitation will be held from 12:00 pm until 9:00 pm on Tuesday with a Rosary at 7:00 pm. The funeral home will reopen at 8:00 am on Wednesday until service time.
A native of Weeks Island and resident of Lydia, Mrs. Myers passed away at 9:15 am on Sunday, June 13, 2010 at her residence.
Mrs. Myers was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church, American Legion Ladies Auxillary and Lydia Cancer Association. She enjoyed sewing, camping and most of all fishing; even if it meant fishing from her wheelchair she never missed an opportunity to get in the boat. Her love for her husband, children and grandchildren was very evident and they will cherish their memories forever.
She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Gerald J. Myers of Lydia; two daughters, Nanette E. Myers and companion of 10 years Stacey Meche of Mire and Crystal A. Myers of Lydia; three grandchildren, Cheramie M. Myers and fiancé Coty Maturin; Haley M. Trahan and Hunter J. Trahan both of Lydia; great granddaughter, Caydence E. Maturin and her great grandson that is due in September, Cannon C. Maturin. Mrs. Myers is also survived by two brothers, Kirby F. Hebert and wife Gracie and Daniel A. Hebert and wife Maureen all of New Iberia; two sisters, Janace H. Derise and husband Donald of Lydia and Muriel H. Landry and husband Hardy of New Iberia; and her mother-in-law, Mabel Breaux of New Iberia.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Donald Anthony and Georgette Hebert; one daughter, Shelly Marie Myers and her father-in-law, Desire Myers.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Derise, Blake Derise, Curt Landry, Kirby Hebert, II, Jeffrey Frawley, Joey Lopez and Hunter Trahan.
Honorary pallbearers will be Coty Maturin, Davey Landry, Donald Derise, Clint Derise, Brian Derise, Dan Hebert, Tim Frawley and Steven Frawley.
