Elizabeth Adcock Bourgeois

NEW IBERIA – Funeral Services will be conducted for Mrs. Elizabeth A. Bourgeois, age 87, at 10:00 am Thursday, May 3, 2012 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church with Fr. Charles Langlois officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Family Mausoleum.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm on Wednesday with a Rosary at 7:00 pm. The funeral home will reopen at 8:00 am on Thursday until service time.

A native of Doddridge, Arkansas and resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Bourgeois passed away at 2:20 am on Sunday, April 29, 2012 at Iberia Medical Center.

She was a graduate of Charity Hospital in New Orleans where she received her nursing degree. With extended training, she became a certified nurse anesthetist. It was through this profession that she met her loving husband of thirty-nine years, Dr. David Eldredge Bourgeois, Sr.

Mrs. Bourgeois was a distinguished member of the Iberia Park and Recreation Center Board with thirty years of service. She also belonged to the Medical Auxiliary and Iberia Parish Garden Club. Mrs. Bourgeois’ favorite pastime was spending time with her family. She devoted her time and love to her seven children, twenty-four grandchildren, and sixteen great-grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her sons, David Eldredge Bourgeois, Jr. and wife Marilyn of New Iberia, John Allison Bourgeois and wife Joan of New Iberia, Saint Patrick Bourgeois and wife Anna Faye of Baton Rouge, John Carlyle Bourgeois, III and wife Susan of New Iberia; daughters, Mary Elizabeth Bourgeois of New Iberia, Ramona Bourgeois Cabeceiras and husband Larry of Covington, and Margaret Bourgeois Musso of New Iberia; and grandchildren, Christopher Porter, Aimee Porter Deady, Renee Cabeceiras Karras, Rachelle Cabeceiras Beavers, Miles Cabeceiras, Michelle Cabeceiras, Nicholas Bourgeois, Blake Bourgeois, Garett Bourgeois, Kali Bourgeois, Joshua Musso, Jennifer Musso Forrester, Angela Musso Landry, Alicia Musso Bourque, Ranelle LeBlanc Pressley, Brennon Bourgeois, Skyler Bourgeois, Chandler Bourgeois, Conley Bourgeois, Jansen Bourgeois, Sean Bourgeois, Kyle Bourgeois, Ryan Bourgeois and Bryn Bourgeois.

She was preceded in death by her husband Dr. David Eldredge Bourgeois, Sr.; parents, Oscar and Pearl Adcock and granddaughter, Sharon Elizabeth Bourgeois.

Pallbearers will be David Eldredge Bourgeois, Jr., John Allison Bourgeois, Saint Patrick Bourgeois, John Carlyle Bourgeois, III, Christopher Porter, Joshua Musso, Larry Cabeceiras and David Holmes. Billy Gesser will serve as honorary pallbearer.
