NEW IBERIA – Funeral Services will be conducted for Ernest “Ernie” Lopez, Jr., age 60, at 1:00 pm Wednesday, July 25, 2018 at Evangeline Funeral Home with Fr. Bill John Melancon officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Family Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 am until time of service on Wednesday at Evangeline Funeral Home.
A native and resident of New Iberia, Ernie passed away at 6:40 pm on Monday, July 23, 2018 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
Ernie was a sweet and loving man who enjoyed eating, watching television and playing with his rope given to him by his father many years ago. He will be truly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his sisters, Sister (Mary Alice) Josita Lopez of Jonesboro, AR; Sandra Norwood and husband George, Sr. of Erath; Suzette Menard and husband Orien of New Iberia and Roberta Lopez of New Iberia, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest Lopez, Sr. and Roberta Baudoin Lopez; maternal grandparents, Reynold and Alice Chauvin Baudoin; paternal grandparents, Thomas and Emmeline Lopez; one brother, John Lopez and his nephew, James Labit.
Pallbearers will be George Norwood, Jr., Michael Norwood, Jason Desormeaux, Drew Desormeaux, Ashton Ryan and Tyler Broussard. George Norwood, Sr. will be and honorary pallbearer.
The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff at Hospice of Acadiana for their care and compassion shown to our dear brother.
