

RYNELLA – A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Esther Jasek Touchet, age 78, 10:00 am on Monday, June 20, 2011 at St. Marcellus Catholic Church. Fr. Ed Degeyter will be the celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Marcellus Mausoleum.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at Evangeline Funeral Home on Sunday from 2:00 pm until 10:00 pm, with the Rosary being recited at 6:00 pm. The funeral home will reopen on Monday from 8:00 am until 9:30 am.
Esther was born December 24, 1932 to Henry and Sophie Kurtzman Jasek in Lagrange, Texas and passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 16, 2011 at Iberia Extended Care Hospital
Mrs. Touchet was not only a homemaker but active in several businesses and her community. Many will remember her as their Stanley Home Product representative for over 20 years. She also owned and operated Easy Street Florist for 15 years, and managed her husband’s business, Touchet Plumbing, for over 25 years.
She also spent much time giving back to her family and friends and the people of her community by volunteering with the Diabetes Association, the Humane Society and SPCA, and actively serving her church parish. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend who will be forever remembered for her loving ways and generous heart.
Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Edias Paul Touchet of New Iberia; her sons, Ronald “R.T.” Touchet and wife Peggy, and Daniel Touchet and his life partner George Viator all of New Iberia; three grandchildren, Rachael Touchet, Ronald “R.P.” Touchet and wife Tami, and Lacy Touchet; sisters, Bertha Ruether, Gloria Barta, Celestine Widacki, and Irene Micalsky; a brother, Jerry Jasek; brother-in-law, Alvin “Gene” Touchet of New Iberia; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her son, Kenneth Touchet; grandson, Kaki John Touchet; her parents, Henry and Sophie Jasek; and siblings Angeline Dowell, Geraldine Blum, Lavine Schmidt, Ivy-Dell Curry, and infant Henry Jasek, Jr.
Serving as pallbearers will be RT, RP, John, Frank, Lacy and Racheal Touchet, and Jap Darcey.
