Ethel Mire Deslatte

NEW IBERIA- A memorial gathering of family and friends will be held at Evangeline Funeral Home of New Iberia on Friday, June 26, 2015, from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm for Mrs. George Deslatte Sr., the former Ethel Mire, age 76, who passed away Saturday, June 20, 2015. Private interment services will be held at a later date.

A native of Mire and resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Deslatte passed away at 11:00 pm on Saturday, June 20, 2015 at Iberia Medical Center surrounded by her loving family.

Ethel Mire Deslatte was born August 22, 1938, to Edwin and Ella Broussard Mire and was one of five children. She enjoyed spending her time cooking, baking, gardening, and playing cards with family and friends. Mrs. Deslatte enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and had a special love for her many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by all those she knew and loved.

Survivors include her four sons Bryan Deslatte and wife, Kathleen, of Alvin, Texas, George Deslatte Jr. and wife, Sharon, of New Iberia, Roddy Deslatte and companion Lesia Touchet of St. Amant and Mark Deslatte and wife, Yvette, of Broussard; siblings, Peter Mire, Clifford Mire, and Venola Vanderventer; 14 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; and her beloved pets BJ (a parrot) and Sugar (a cockatoo).

She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-eight years, George Deslatte, Sr.; sister, Marge Mire Ramsey; and parents, Edwin and Ella Broussard Mire.
