We mourn the passing of Eula Mae Thibodeaux Lafont, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, who peacefully departed this world on Monday, February 19, 2024, surrounded by her loving family at her residence.
Mae as she was affectionately known was born on January 1, 1940, to the late Claude and Rita Tauzin Thibodeaux in Breaux Bridge, LA.
She was a devout member of Nativity of Our Lady Catholic Church, where her faith was exemplified through her dedication as a member of Our Lady of Sorrows and the Ladies Altar Society. Her commitment to serving others extended beyond the church walls, as she selflessly volunteered at St. Francis Diner, providing nourishment to those in need on a weekly basis.
One of the greatest joys in her life was the companionship she shared with her husband, with whom she delighted in annual trips to Colorado, creating cherished memories together. Mae found solace and contentment in the simplicity of nature, often spending leisurely hours on long walks outdoors.
However, above all else, Mae's heart overflowed with love for her family. She devoted herself wholeheartedly to them, cherishing every moment spent together and leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering devotion.
Mae's memory will forever live on in the hearts of her beloved family and friends, who were touched by her gentle spirit, warm smile, and compassionate soul. Though she may be physically absent, her presence will continue to be felt in the lives she touched and the memories she created.
May she rest in eternal peace, embraced by the divine love she so faithfully shared with others throughout her life.
A private service was held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, February 21, 2024 at Nativity of Our Lady Mausoleum where she was laid to rest with her beloved husband.
Fr. Ed Degeyter was the celebrant.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are her children, Brent Lafont, Pamela L. Picard, and husband Donald and Keisha L. Blanchard and husband Johnny; five grandchildren, Brittany P. Jones and husband Steven; Quin Picard, Dylan Lafont, Sydney Blanchard, and Carson Blanchard and one great-grandchild, Cullen Jones.
Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Darrel John Lafont; sister, Doris T. Lafont and one brother, Raymond Thibodeaux.
Honored to serve as pallbearers were Brent Lafont, Donald Picard, Johnny Blanchard, Dylan Lafont, Quin Picard, and Carson Blanchard.
