Francis Michael Arceneaux

January 27, 1951March 30, 2018

Memorial services for Francis M. “Butch” Arceneaux, 67, will be held from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, April 7, 2018, at the Evangeline Funeral Home in New Iberia with Fr. Gary Schexnayder (retired) officiating. A native of Church Point and resident of New Iberia, Mr. Arceneaux lost his fight with cancer and died at 6:30 p.m. Friday, March 30, 2018 at his residence.

Butch joined the U.S. National Guard during the Vietnam War, wanting to do his duty if called. He attended USL (ULL), but decided that following his father's footsteps and working in the oilfield was more to his liking. He began as an electrician with Teledyne Movible Offshore and in time became a Powerplant Operator/Supervisor at the time Teledyne closed down. Afterwards, he continued his electrician career working contract for different companies. When he was diagnosed with cancer, he had to retire from a job he truly loved.

He loved spending his free time with his granddaughters, Gia and Eli, spoiling them as much as he could with frequent hugs and kisses. A true race fan, weekends were spent watching NASCAR and other races. Of course, the New Orleans Saints and LSU Tigers were his teams of choice for football. He also enjoyed going out to dinner with his brother David and nephew Logan, enjoying discussions and debates that always ended in a laugh.

Arceneaux is survived by his daughters, Angel Hargroder and her husband Curt of New Iberia; Emily Sciortino and her husband Todd of Round Rock, Texas; his brothers Kermit and his wife Monika of Judice; David Arceneaux of New Iberia; grandchildren Gianna, Eliana, Lauren, and Jacob; stepchildren Brennan and his wife Bojana of Houston, Texas; Keisha Oubre of Loreauville; step-grandchildren Trey, Kaylee, Brianna, Bianca and Brock.. His nephews Logan Arceneaux of New Iberia; Scott Arceneaux and his wife Lisa of Breaux Bridge; Derek Arceneaux of Lafayette; Eric Desormeaux and his wife Anna of Lake Mary, Florida; and Jason Desormeaux of Baton Rouge.

He was preceded in death by his Maternal and Fraternal grandparents; parents, Francis "Frank" and Margie R. Arceneaux; his sister Monica Arceneaux Desormeaux; and niece Celeste Desormeaux.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, a donation be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital in his name.

The Evangeline Funeral Home Inc. of New Iberia is in charge of the arrangements.
