

Fred Comeaux died on August 5, 2015 at St. Joseph’s Hospice/Carpenter House in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Fred is survived by his wife, Emi, four children, Wayne, Bob, Cathy and Linda, their spouses, six grandchildren and his sister, Theresa LeDoux.
Fred was born and raised in New Iberia and went to school at New Iberia High School and St. Ben’s Seminary in New Orleans. He was a member of the Army Adjutant General Corp stationed in Japan during the Korean War. There he met Emi, his wife of 58 years.
After returning to New Iberia Fred worked as a bookkeeper at Bruce’s Fine Food and then as the office manager for Pelican Aviation Company for 30 years.
Fred was an active member of the New Iberia community. He served as Boy Scout Master, Pony League baseball coach, member of Iberia Little Theatre, and one of the founding members of Iberia Performing Arts League (IPAL). Fred was also a devoted parishioner of St. Peter’s Catholic Church where he served on the parish council, was a mass cantor, lecturer, and choir member.
Fred (“Mr. Fred”) will be deeply missed by all who had the great fortune to know him.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am Monday, August10, 2015 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church. Fr. Nicholas DuPre’ will be the celebrant. Interment will follow at Holy Family Cemetery.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at Evangeline Funeral Home on Sunday from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm, with the Rosary being recited at 8:00 pm. There will be no visiting hours on Monday.
