Freddie Lee McDonal Clary passed peacefully in her home on February 21, 2024 after a long illness. She was born January 22, 1935 in Monette, Arkansas to Fred Alex McDonal and Selma Lee Burnett McDonal. She met the love of her life, Earl Donald (Don) Clary during her first semester at Southeastern Louisiana University. They married the following year and eventually settled in New Iberia, where Freddie served her family as a dedicated homemaker.
Freddie was an artist. She enjoyed drawing and painting, and later found a creative outlet for her talent through flower arranging with the New Iberia Garden Club. She also valued education and was proud to be part of her family’s tradition of valedictorians.
Freddie is survived by her son, Mac Donald Clary (Shirlene) of New Iberia and her daughter Dr. Renee Clary, of Starkville, MS; 10 grandchildren: Nikki LeGlue (Travis) of New Iberia, Megan Guillory (Chris) of New Iberia, Shawn Boudwin (Megan) of Houma; Bryanna Shannon of Dallas, TX, Morgen Miller (Cole Johnson) of Chicago, IL, Mallory Miller of Broussard, Maddox Miller (Cassandra) of New Iberia, Mason Miller of Broussard, Michael Godley, and Dr. Mary Kathryn Godley (Rylan Moore) of Broussard; 10 great-grandchildren, and her sister, Sondra Hardman. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her sister, Patsy McDonal Rogers, and brothers-in-law, Norris Rogers and Charles Gary Clary.
Services will be held at Evangeline Funeral Home on Friday, February 23, 2024 at 10:15 AM with Fr. Don Bernard officiating.
Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during a visitation for Freddie on Friday, February 23, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Evangeline Funeral Home of New Iberia.
Freddie will be laid to rest in the serene grounds of Holy Family Mausoleum, located at 2807 Curtis Ln, New Iberia, Louisiana 70560, where her spirit will find eternal rest alongside loved ones who have gone before her.
Pallbearers will be Travis LeGlue, Chris Guillory, Shawn Boudwin, Cole Johnson, Maddox Miller, Mason Miller, Michael Godley, and Rylan Moore.
