

NEW IBERIA – A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Mr. Gary Stephen Manuel, age 57, at 10:00 am Thursday, April 26, 2012 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church. Rev. Msgr. Richard Green will be the celebrant. Interment will be held privately at a later date.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Wednesday from 2:00 pm until 9:00 pm, with the Rosary being recited at 6:00 pm. Visiting hours will resume on Thursday from 8:00 am until 9:30 am.
A native of Alexandria and resident of New Iberia, Gary passed away on Saturday, April 21, 2012.
Gary was a construction coordinator and welding inspector with Paloma of Houston. He previously worked with American Warrior and other companies in the Acadiana area. He was a member of the Cajun RC club, where he flew model airplanes, but also enjoyed track cars and model trains. Gary also liked watching old movies. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend who will be missed dearly.
Survivors include his wife of 12 years, Marlene Robideaux Manuel of New Iberia; his children, Jessie Ransonet and husband Jamie of New Iberia, Heather Stelly Bourque and husband Kevin of Breaux Bridge, and Dustin Carriere and fiancée Dominque “DD” Fruge of New Iberia; five grandchildren, Hailey, Cammy, Hobie, Austin, and Kagen; his mother, Faye Manuel of Alexandria; step-mother, Sue Manuel of Dry Prong; brother, James Manuel, Jr. and wife Jenny of Broussard; sister, Linda M. Cross and husband Grady of Alexandria; mother-in-law, Marguerite Gros of Lacassine; brothers-in-law, Michael Robideaux and wife Angie and Harry L. Robideaux, Jr. and wife Lynn; and sister-in-law, Renee Smith and husband Wayne Smith.
He was preceded in death by two children, Dustin James Manuel and Brittany Alene Manuel; father, James Manuel, Sr.; and father-in-law, Harry L. Robideaux, Sr.
Pallbearers will be Dustin Carriere, James Manuel, Jr., Jamie Ransonet, Malcolm Landry, Robert Rush, and Kevin Bourque. Honorary pallbearers will be Nick Duags, Kim Dieudonne and Steve Morgan.
