Saturday, June 8, 2024, as the sun rose on another of God’s beautiful days, our dear mother, Georgie Longon Pellerin, gently closed her eyes to this earthly life and went on to her eternal glory. At her passing she was 91.
Georgie was born September 24, 1932 in Biloxi, Mississippi to the late Eddie Longon and the late Paula Dore Longon Bodin, one of five children born to that union. She met the love of her life, Arthur J. Pellerin, and entered into Holy Matrimony November 7, 1948. That marriage brought 8 beautiful children into their lives.
Georgie was instrumental in the operation of their family businesses, Pellerin's Shell and Pellerin's Auto Repair, tending to the books while Arthur did repairs and service. She will also be remembered for the many years she worked as a Bus Aide with the Iberia Parish School Board, and as a representative with Avon, where she was given the Presidential Award for sales.
Outside of her work, Georgie took great pride in her role as the matriarch of the family. Stories were shared of her wonderful cooking and baking. Saturday mornings with her homemade biscuits, Taco Tuesday before it was popular, Sunday dinners made by her with the whole family at home, her own version of king cakes with the braided dough and delicious icing, and the many cakes she made for weddings and special occasions. All wonderful memories that will be cherished. Memories were also shared of her times spent doing the things she loved. Bingo and trips to the casino, as well as her Pokeno Club. And let's not forget the trips to Biloxi and New Orleans to visit family, and the many nights that she and Arthur went dancing. She always made the best out of her days and did so with the sweetest smile ever.
We were blessed to have her in our lives for so long, and now let her go on to her heavenly rest, knowing that we have the promise of eternal life and will one day be reunited with her. Rest well Momma, for you have truly earned you reward. We love you.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Glynn Pellerin and wife Suzanne, Debbie Thibodeaux and husband Kenneth, Sandra Breaux and husband Sonny, James Pellerin and wife Robbie, Keith Pellerin and Angela Landry and husband Larry; her grandchildren whom she adored, Kristin B.
