Gloria Romero Cieglo

NEW IBERIA – Funeral services will be conducted for Gloria Romero Cieglo , age 88, at 3:00 pm on Saturday, March 11, 2023 at Evangeline Funeral Home of New Iberia. Rev. Roland Fontenot will officiate. Interment will be held privately at a later date. A gathering of family and friends will be held at the funeral home on Saturday from 1:00 pm until the time of service. A native of New Iberia and resident of St. Martinville, Mrs. Cieglo passed away on March 9, 2023 at Landmark of Acadiana Nursing Home in Cade. Born on August 21, 1934 to the late Pierre and Lillian Deslatte Romero, Gloria was one of seven children. She was a devout and dedicated member of 1st Baptist Church in New Iberia and dedicated herself in service to Jesus Christ and her community. Gloria was many things, but first and foremost she was a loving mother and grandmother. She loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren more than anything and will be forever known as their “Meme.” Gloria also enjoyed shopping, especially with her daughter. It didn’t matter if she wasn’t feeling well, Gloria was always up for a shopping trip. She will be truly and deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her. She is survived by her daughter, Racheal Steele and husband Jay; two grandchildren, Jacob Steele and wife Abigail and their son Silas, and Raquel S. Cormier and husband Marc and their children Madison, Riley, and Sawyer. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Richard Cieglo; parents, Pierre Romero and Lillian Deslatte Romero; and six brothers and sisters.
