

A memorial Mass will be held for Harold Edward Doerle, age 87, at 1:00 pm Monday September 13, 2010 at Saint Peter's Catholic Church in New Iberia with Father Charles Langlois officiating.
Visitation will be held from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm prior to the Mass at St. Peter’s Catholic Church.
Mr. Doerle was born in Beaumont, Texas on November 23, 1922 and lived in New Iberia. He passed away at 5:15am on Thursday September 9, 2010 in a local hospital.
Mr. Doerle graduated from St. Peter's College in 1941 and was a WWII Veteran having served over-seas in China, Burma and India. For many years he worked as a welder and construction worker and in 1972 he began his own business, Doerle's Heating and Cooling. Harold was a hunter, avid fisherman, devoted New Orleans Saints fan, and enjoyed making his vegetable garden. He enjoyed playing cards, talking politics, and sharing his three at Cypremort Point, Bird Island Chute, and in the Mexican Yucatan Peninsula. He recently traveled to Washington, D.C. as part of the Louisiana WWII Honor Air Program.
Mr. Doerle was active in the community and was a member and Past President of both the New Iberia Lions Club and the Ancient Order of Creole Gourmet, where he was the Head Chef in 1987. He was also the "oldest" member of the Cajun Connoisseur Supper Club, and a member of the Ora Caribe Club and the "Old Friends" group.
Mr. Doerle is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 63 years, Rosemary Laperouse Doerle; son, Dan E. Doerle and wife Gina; four daughters, Nancy D. Patout and husband James, Mary Doerle, Valerie D. Verret and husband Carl, and Dianne D. Geoffroy and husband Conway of Lafayette; ten grandchildren, Gregory Geoffroy and wife Elaine, Brad Geoffroy and wife Shamra, Allen and Mark Patout, Jenna and Eric Verret, Jason and Allison Doerle, and Brittany and Ginger deGravelle; four great-grandchildren, Abigail, Emily and Camille Geoffroy, and Carter Thibodeaux; brother, Paul Doerle; sister, Betty D. Comeaux; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Eva Marie Doerle; parents, Paul and Emma Doerle, six sisters, Pauline Davant, Gertrude Walet, Rena Waller, Mildred Miller, Thelma "Dickie" Theriot, and Bernice Roy; and two brothers, Frances Doerle and Robert " Bobby" Doerle.
