

Coteau – A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Hazel Bergeron Delahoussaye, age 70, at 11:00 am Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church. Fr. Barry Crochet will be the celebrant. Readers for the Mass will be Alyx Frederick and Mikalyn Boudreaux. Giftbearers are Raquelle Romero, Ashley Duhon and Paige LeBlanc. Interment will follow in Broussard Cemetery in Bayou Petit Anse.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at Evangeline Funeral Home on Monday from 12:00 pm until 10:00 pm, with the Rosary being recited at 7:00 pm. Visiting hours will resume on Tuesday from 8:00 am until 10:30 am.
Mrs. Delahoussaye was born November 6, 1944 in New Iberia to the late Auguston Bergeron, Sr. and Levie Alleman Bergeron and passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 11, 2015 at her residence, surrounded by her loving family.
She was a very loving mother, grandmother, and aunt who loved having her family together. She also enjoyed talking on the phone and trips to the casino with her friends. She will be dearly missed.
Survivors include her children, Leonard “Chuchie” LeBlanc and wife Tammy, Rometa Horton and husband Russell, Romona Comeaux and Fiance’ Willis Courville, and Heidi LeBlanc all of New Iberia; six grandchildren, Raquelle H. Romero and husband Orie, Rusty Horton, Haley Comeaux, Keith Comeaux, Jr., Ashley Duhon and Paige LeBlanc; one great granddaughter, Addilyn Romero; her brother, Auguston Bergeron, Jr.; and her faithful and loyal rat terrier, Bella.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Ewell Delahoussaye, Sr.; sister, Rosalie Bergeron Champagne; and brothers, Irving Paul Bergeron and Albert Bergeron.
Serving as pallbearers are Rusty Horton, Heidi LeBlanc, Haley Comeaux, Keith Comeaux, Jr., Orie Romero, and Blaine Champagne.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Heart of Hospice, especially her caregivers Sandy and Jakita for their care, and to all family and friends who visited.
